Setback, a New Year, and Training Completed

A Happy New Year to you as we usher in 2025. A bit hard to believe another year has passed. We have a new administration coming in and for the Chinese, on January 29th, it’s the Year of the Snake, symbolizing wisdom, elegance and intuition.

You likely noticed I have been absent since my last post on October 31. My goal was to make a post every week, detailing my progress. However, mom was diagnosed with a serious medical issue the middle of October and as her guardian I had to make a difficult decision. I set up appointments with her specialty care doctors to get as much information as possible. After a lot of prayer I made the decision I felt was best for her and her quality of life. As a result, she is now in hospice care. This took up a lot of time and took my focus away from many things. I often felt lethargic about normal daily activities and I could not find the inspiration or motivation to keep up with my Blog or business. So I have been absent.

One of the great things about having your own business is you are the boss and your success is determined by what you do and do not do. You do not have to ask someone for time off, rather, your time is yours. However, if you do not put any effort in, you will not get anything in return. The ROI of zero is zero. Simple math. But that’s ok. Life happens. As an only child, my mom is more important than my business. I am very fortunate though and thankful to God that I still have time left with mom. Many people have lost their mom, or dad, suddenly, without any opportunity to say goodbye or prepare for their death. So I will enjoy every day I have with mom until the final day comes. It’s life. No one lives forever. As much as I understand and rationalize that though, it still seems surreal and I think subconsciously affects me every day.

Even though I took a break from staying up with my business, I did manage to complete Dean’s Beginner’s Advantage program. While it took me a lot longer than it should have, what I learned from it is immeasurable. I’ve had my Blog for almost a year. While I have not yet made an income, I have learned quite a bit. As this new year begins, the last video in the Beginner’s Advantage program really hit home. Why am I doing this? It isn’t easy and a lot of work and I have yet to generate an income. Since it’s the new year, with new goals, I thought about that, a lot.

To answer that, I went back to my March 6th blog post. There I said I am doing this to achieve my Dream Life – take care of my daughter and her family, give my dogs their best life, pay off all of my debt, double my retirement income and retired to my dream home in Florida, by a vacation home in England, travel the world, and greatly support the charities I donate to. It helped to revisit my goals and see they have not changed.

The ultimate reason I am doing my affiliate marketing business is to live my dream life. To not only supplement my retirement income, but replace it entirely so I am not relying on a monthly income from the Government because I never know what will happen. As I achieve that goal I will be able to eliminate all of my debt, travel the world, afford the retirement house I want in Florida, give my dogs their best life, make sure my daughter and her family have a good life, fully support my charities and buy a vacation home in Europe.

Reaffirming those goals helped me refocus on why I am doing this and provided inspiration to be successful in 2025. It also helped me climb out of the lethargy I have been feeling and start looking forward to this year.

I hope with the new year, you have taken time to think about your goals and why you would like to have your own affiliate marketing business. Have they changed from before or are they the same and you are committed to achieving them? It is time to continue our voyage in 2025 so we can work towards achieving those goals, one step at a time. I will see you soon.
